Club Members

Ralph Zarate, long time member, passed away on 3 April 2009. Obituary
In loving memory - Jackie Timm - Loving wife of Roger Timm, 15 year member of the DGD and our friend. May you rest in the arms of angels. March 2009.
The club mourns the passing of Ray and Dolores "Del" Faker who died just over a week apart, Del on 21 Jan 2009 and Ray on 29 Jan 2009. They were both active club members since joining the club in Jan 1999. They will be missed. Arizona Daily Star Life story.
The club is sad to report that long time club member Jack Stephenson passed away on Friday 12 October 2007. Jack along with his wife Dorie have always stayed very involved with the Desert Gold Diggers, serving in a variety of positions on both the Board of Directors as well as the Executive Committee.
The club is saddened to learn that club member Tammy Shaw died in a car accident on Thursday, September 20, 2007.
The club is very sadden to learn that long time club member Ed Ramos passed away September 16, 2007.
The club is very sadden to learn that 4 year club member Randell G. Sands passed away July 12, 2007.
The club is very sadden to learn that long time member and many term club president Tom Crosslin passed away on March 17, 2007. Tom was active in both the DGD and "Detectors Unlimited" and will be missed by both clubs.
The club is very sadden to learn that long time member and club officer Kenny Delventhal passed away on February 17, 2007. Kenny will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The club is sadden to hear that one year club member Alvin Balius passed away September 18, 2006.
Member Gene McNally passed away on 7/01/06. Even though he was a new member, Gene will be greatly missed by his brother Pat, his family and the club members that met him.
The club is sad to report that Fred Hettig, a nine year club member was killed Wednesday, 22 March 2006 while riding his bicycle on the Old Nogales Highway.

The club is saddened to hear that six year Club Member John Venus passed away on 11 April 2005. John really enjoyed the club, its outings and all the friendships he made.
The club is saddened to hear that six year Club Member Bob McConnell passed away on 26 March 2005.
The club is very sorry to hear that member Barbara Dinius passed away December 2004. Our sincere condolence to the family.
Club member Ron Gregg passed away on 10 April 2003.
Jeen La Salle died in a motorcycle accident on 4 April 2002. Jeen was a member of the club for several years and one of the original members of the Claims Committee. Those who knew Jeen fondly remember him and his wife Debra and their Camo painted Isuzu pickup which had a rubber roach mounted on the hood of his "Roach Mobile".
Club member and former gazette editor Jim Gurney passed away on 14 June 2002 after a long illness.
Club member and friend John Harris passed away on 25 January 2002.
Club member and friend Ken Curtis passed away on 8 January 2002.
Long time club member and friend Donald Hackett passed away on 10 October 2001.


Friends and Associates

The club is saddened to learn that the mother of Club Member Lucy Borowski passed away on 5 April 2005.
The club is saddened to learn that the cousin of David Martin and club friend Nelson Matthews passed away on 31 March 2005.
The club is sad to learn that Elaine Schrader passed away on June 28, 2003. Many of our members came in contact with Elaine through the Pro-Mack South store, the G.P.A.A. or some other mining/prospecting function. Elaine and her late husband, Fred, started the Superstition Mountain Treasure Hunters Club in Apache Junction, AZ in 1989. The goal of the club was to have a meeting place for prospectors and treasure hunters. The club grew and a metal detector hunt was started. This became a large annual event after Fred's passing. Elaine lost her three year battle with cancer.
Mr. Mark Miller suddenly passed away in early November 2002. Mark was a senior geologist for ASARCO Mining Company and an avid representative for "People of the West." He spoke before our club on numerous occasions and accompanied us on several outings. Mr. Miller was 50 years old.
